QuakeCon is right around the corner, and today Bethesda announced its sponsored Quake Live tournaments. The tournament pool totals more than $40,000, which the company boasts is the largest purse in the history of the conference. Players will compete in three events.
When someone talks about the Dead Island games, usually the first thing a player thinks is, "Oh, boy, I get to smack around a zombie with a crowbar!" However, Deep Silver will change this up a bit this fall with the release of Escape Dead Island, a game that will focus more on a genuine survival horror approach, rather than smacking the members of the undead into the middle of next Tuesday.
There's a good chance that anyone that has ever played with toys as a child likely came across Hot Wheels. It's ubiquitous, practically synonymous with toy cars. Forza Motorsport 5 would like to honor this time-honored line of miniature favorites by releasing the new Hot Wheels Car Pack DLC.

Over the past twenty-one years, the Doom franchise has built up quite a legacy. That will continue in a few weeks' time when the much-rumored Doom 4 is revealed at Quakecon 2014 in Dallas, Texas. However, given the criticism that Doom 3 received, combined with how many have become desensitized to video game horror, we can't help but ask... is this a franchise that can grow beyond being a mindless shooter?
