Slimy invertibrates are set to do battle, once again. The combative Worms are ready to take their ongoing clash into the next generation with Worms Battlegrounds, the latest in the long-running strategy series from publisher Team17. The game is set to hit Xbox One on May 30 before firing onto PlayStation 4 on June 3.
The newest Worms game will feature 25 single-player story missions and 10 'Worm-Ops' time attack missions across five new environments. Players can go from Inca, Viking, Feudal Japan, Industrial Revolution, and Prehistoric levels (each with day-night cycles) and battle with 65 weapons, including new ones like the Mega Mortar, Winged Monkey, and Teleport Gun. Competitive multiplayer modes, like Deathmatch and Fort, will also support up to four players locally or online.
Each version will feature their own unique features, with Xbox One users getting SmartGlass support and PlayStation 4 users getting weapon assignments that can be assigned to the DualShock 4's Touch Pad.
Worms Battlegrounds is one of the first games to launch from the ID@Xbox program.
