Q-Games' PixelJunk Shooter is coming back for next-gen. Double Eleven is developing a new "Ultimate" edition of the game for PS4 and PS Vita this summer, which combines both entries in the series into one "uninterrupted and complete experience." That means features introduced in the sequel, such as the super spin, can now be used in the original game. Being a first-party PlayStation game, PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will support Cross-Play and Cross-Save, allowing Vita and PS4 players to play with one another. Cross-Buy hasn't been confirmed, but we wouldn't be surprised if Sony offered it. Of course, the PS4 being significantly more beefy than Vita, it'll boast better visuals. The PS4 version promises a "full visual upgrade," including real-time environment lighting, improved shaders, and anti-aliasing for all the fluids. The ship is now rendered in 3D and is impacted by the new real-time lighting. Finally, it all runs in 60 frames per second, which "improves on the control feedback and responsiveness." There are some other improvements as well, but you can check out the PlayStation.Blog for the full list.

Sweet! I love PJ Shooter. I hope it sells well enough to get another sequel greenlit. :)
