Final Fantasy 14 launching on PlayStation 4 in April
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will launch for the PlayStation 4 in April 2014, following a beta period to start the same day as the PS4's Japanese launch: February 22.
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will launch on the PlayStation 4 in April 2014, Square Enix has announced. This will follow a brief beta test scheduled to start on February 22, 2014--the same day the PlayStation 4 is set to launch in Japan.
The official site will host part 11 of its ongoing "Letter from the Producer Live" videos on December 14, in which producer and director Naoki Yoshida will show off the PlayStation 4 version in action.
The dates came alongside the announcement that A Realm Reborn had received the 'Special Award' at the 2013 PlayStation Awards in Tokyo. The newly-created award recognizes outstanding originality, influence, performance, and "buzz-worthiness." That certainly seems to fit the bill, since after a rocky start the MMORPG has gotten a fairly positive reception.

Can I ask why you would want to switch, other than the couch play?
Typing to talk is more of a pain and takes longer imo, and was one of my issues with FFXI. I'd also say I have more than enough skills to use in battle that the normal 4 button face controller+4 more using a shoulder button is a little cumbersome to remember the actions. -
