Weekend Confirmed 193 - Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, Super Mario 3D World

By Ozzie Mejia, Nov 27, 2013 11:00am PST

It's the Thanksgiving weekend edition of Weekend Confirmed and hosts Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata welcome in Shacknews' Ozzie Mejia and Shane Satterfield to give thanks to all things video games. The show begins with an extensive look at Forza Motorsport 5, discussing everything that makes the game one of the Xbox One's best launch titles. From there, the topic turns to Forza's controversial use of microtransactions, dissecting in detail an interview Garnett had conducted with Turn 10's Dan Greenwalt shortly before the start of the show. The topic then turns to Dead Rising 3 and Xbox Fitness before discussing the PS4 and Xbox One's respective controllers and wrapping the show up with thoughts on Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The show wraps up with Thanksgiving Finishing Moves and the post-show Tailgate.

  • Some takes on the Xbox One part of the show. I wish Garnett would have let Jeff talk about Forza 5. Instead Garnett decided to school us on cars. I would have preferred to listen to Jeff's take on Forza 5... Like Jeff I think I prefer the Xbox 360 controller. On the One I find the shoulder buttons to be difficult to hit and I think the sticks are too loose. But I do like the rumble, the taller sticks, and the texture on the sticks.... Speaking about the controller the d-pad is awesome and love it for Killer Instinct (KI is my new jam!)... Micro transactions should only be used in free games. But all free games with micro transactions should let you buy the game with all features unlocked.... Xbox On and Xbox Turn Off works like a charm for me with my TV, cable box, and a/v receiver.... Microsoft needs to implement natural language into the Kinect. I hope it's coming with project Cortana (look it up.). Right now it sucks if you don't remember the commands. But when it works it's cool. Xbox Record that, best new feature on the One... Love that Shane pressed Garnett in discussing why he doesn't have an Xbox One. I just wish Garnett would be honest with us and just say it, you hate everything Microsoft. You chose Killzone over Forza, whatever dude....
