EA's legal settlement with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) wasn't intended to halt NCAA games altogether, but that seems to be the result. The two have parted ways, which may have something to do with the settlement costing the company $40 million.

EA revealed the cost of its settlement during a quarterly financial report yesterday. The case involved players suing the company for using certain aspects of their likenesses in games, even without their names mentioned. It could have been much worse for the company, though. An estimate last year calculated the cost at $1 billion on the high end, which makes $40 million look like a drop in the bucket.
