Weekend Confirmed 181 - Xbox One, Lost Planet 3

By Ozzie Mejia, Sep 06, 2013 11:00am PDT

It's a Weekend Confirmed Birthday Celebration! Host Garnett Lee celebrates his birthday, along with co-host Jeff Cannata, "Indie" Jeff Mattas, and The Escapist's Andrea Rene. They talk about the Xbox One release date and the landscape of the gaming world this fall. That leads to discussion of the many games covered at this year's PAX Prime, including those featured at this year's Indie Megabooth. Everyone's also been playing a number of games themselves, including Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Lost Planet 3, and Outlast. And then it's full-speed ahead on the new NFL season, so the Finishing Moves segment is cut a little short to help make way for the year's first Tailgate.

  • Great podcast as usual. Although I think having Ms Microsoft Andrea Rene on during the same week as the PS4 launch was an odd choice. It gets difficult to listen after a while, especially if there isn't someone else counterbalancing her xbox fangirlism. I was relieved when Jeff Cannnattta started talking about the 3ds as it was getting ridiculous. Also agree with some about the tailgate. Not interested at all in it which is frustrating as it doesn't automatically get deleted from my phone as I haven't listened all the way through. Perhaps a second sports podcast might be an option for those interested?

  • Funny how Valve's family share plan is awesome but Microsoft's was the worst thing to happen to console gaming. I know Microsoft said they might still bring back the family share plan but in the mean time I would like to extend a big F YOU to the internet for F-ing it up. And I would like to extend a bigger F YOU to the spineless Microsoft execs who backed out of it. Either way I'm still going all digital. No more driving to the store (I hate traffic), no more waiting for UPS guy to deliver game, no more getting up to change discs, instant game switching, library in the cloud, no game disc for my 4 year old to scratch, no more buying rack/shelves/boxes to store discs, access to my library at my friends houses... all of this is worth going digital. If anything I hope Valve's family share plan works and proves to the internet that sharing your library is a good thing so that Microsoft and Sony can follow suit.

  • I agree with Jeff and Garnett on Outlast. I am a sissy as well when it comes to these jump-scare games. Although, this is where I love the internet. Watching someone else play this game on you-tube, so much fun. I still get all the scares and experiences of the game, but have someone else playing it for me.

For me the thing that turns me off about these games is the fact that I never want to progress, I would just rather hide in the locker! Although, when someone else does it for me, I can still experience the game and have fun pissing my pants!

And for the record, I screamed out loud probably 10 times during this game. I am with you Andrea.

Great show as always! And by the way Mattas is great and I wish he could have his job back. :)
