  • Microsofts 'games, games, games' E3 presentation was meant to turn disenchanted gamers around, it didn't. So then, I'm surprised a number of today's guest's immediately lauded Microsoft for their conference.

We know what Microsoft do, they frontload their console with exclusives, many of which are bought in. We already know Titanfall is a 12 month exclusive, hence EA execs carefully chosen words about bringing it to PS4, beyond that I'm struggling to identify a system selling exclusive. Even Forza 5 look like a graphocal upgrade with cut features (no storefron, weather night still missing), it makes you wonder if PD were right to hold back for a GT6 Ultimate Edition on PS4 in 12 months or so.

On PS4, strangely enough, showing games wasn't a priority, DRM policies (used games, online checks etc.) and showing a vision for the system (indie support etc.) where what people needed to see.

Sony's ace card are in-house first party studios, we know the quality they deliver, we also know we'll get multiple titles over the course of the hardware's life, these are not going to be Mass Effect like time exclusives.

It 's quite telling how the guest stated it was inevitable Microsoft would show the Halo, yet Sony didn't show anything PS4 related from Polyhoney Digital, Naughty Dog or the number one Santa Monica studio. No one freaked out, as we know titles are coming, and why we wait, we are playing the Last Of Us and GT6, while 360 owners enjoy...............

Reading around, it does appear as if Sony have taken the initiative not only in their traditonally strong European and Japanese markets, Amazon and Gamespot pre-orders in NA are also showing very strong PS4 pre-orders, with PS4 software also outselling their Xbox One equivalents, including third part.
