The improved load times will affect switching between applications or returning to the main Wii U menu. The update will also allow users to automatically install programs and software updates that have been downloaded in the background while playing games. This process can also happen when the Wii U is turned off as part of a new standby function.
Players who are in a hurry to play when the console is starting up will also be able to press B on the GamePad to get to the Wii U menu.

It's great the OS switching times will be improved, but what about the loading times for games? I thought the system's Blu-Ray drive was like 2x that of a PS3, yet the load times for a lot of the games are uniformly awful.... anyone know why that is?
Also, rather than reserving half of the 2GB of RAM for the OS, it would be great if they could streamline the OS and make more memory available to developers...
