Former Human Head COO founds Grimm Bros studio
by Steve Watts, Mar 20, 2013 9:30am PDTThe former chief operating officer of Human Head Studios has started a new venture with a very particular focus. Ash Monif announced he is teaming up with art director Randis Albion to form Grimm Bros, a studio centered around darkly humorous versions of classic fairy tales. It will be centering its efforts on PC and tablet devices.
The studio is still in its infancy, having not announced its first project and still inviting job inquiries on its official site. Albion's personal page on DeviantArt states that they're actively working on their first game and will start prototyping a second in a few months. The press release included various pieces of Albion's art, including one (above) that is serving as the "inspiration piece" for the studio's first game, Monif told Shacknews.
Monif's credits include Mercenaries 2 and Fieldrunners, while Albion's include League of Legends and the card game Magic the Gathering.
"I have always been a fan of complex subject matter," Monif said in the press release. "I grew up reading the classics like Grimm, Chaucer, Tolkien - and I feel that today's games gloss over a lot of the richness that can be found within these great works. Our goal is to create classic and immersive RPG and Adventure Games, set in a persistent world for a community of core gamers."
