Maybe it's just because I grew up gaming on the PC as well as on consoles and have been dealing with all of these crazy "PC issues" since I was 7, but it really isn't as hard as some of you make it out to be. My last driver hiccup was a year and a half ago when I did my last upgrade, and it's been smooth sailing since. I haven't had to spend "hours" configuring every game I've tried to run.
I feel like your complaining about how hard it is to set up a PC pretty much affirms that you are actually settling for consoles in some sense. You don't want to deal with any hurdles, and that's just fine. But don't try to piss on an entire library of games - as if you know anything about them - because you don't have the patience to try them.
And that comment about how "control" equals "having problems dumped on us"?
You're right there, in a sense.
I remember buying and playing Dark Souls on my 360 and getting pissed off at the sluggishness (as in low framerate). When it was ported to the PC, FPS was still capped at 30 and the res was limited to 1024x768. It looked like a pile of shit, but I bought it again anyway and applied a bunch of mods. It took about half an hour to get things going, but when I was finished, I had the game running at 60 FPS at 1080p with my controller. I enjoyed the game immensely.
Thank god we at least got a chance to fix that sloppy port.
