Sony to launch PlayStation web store this month
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 11, 2013 6:00am PSTThe PlayStation Network has made huge inroads on Xbox Live Arcade over the years, now looking the better online service in many ways, but it has been missing a way to access the store over the cyberweb. Thankfully, Sony is launching a site to browse and buy games in your browser this month, having debuted such a thing in Europe in December.
For a peek at how it'll look, check out the European web store. However, unlike XBLA, at first it won't automatically download stuff you buy to your PS3. That'll come later.
Sony Network Entertainment COO Shawn Layden confirmed the launch to CNET in a chat about its digital offerings. Layden also revealed that the recent and much-needed PlayStation Store redesign has brought double-digit growth and has users browsing for longer. Because it's nicer.
