Machinima lays off more than 10% of staff
by Andrew Yoon, Dec 14, 2012 12:00pm PSTMachinima, one of YouTube's most popular channels, has laid off more than ten percent of its staff, including many in editorial. According to Machinima EIC Rob Smith, 23 of the company's 200 employees were let go today.
Speaking to Joystiq, Smith said that today's layoffs are part of the company's "growing pains," adding "Machinima has grown a lot in a short amount of time." Although editorial has been largely affected by today's reductions, Smith said that the company will focus on doing "editorial coverage in a slightly different way."
The company still has a number of job openings.

Really, it's near the end of the fiscal year for many companies, plus all the extra they might have to pay for whatever reason during the holidays. It sucks, but it "makes sense."
