Of course SimCity will have disasters

For example, this Meteor Strike (pictured) will cause quite an explosive mess when it hits. Other disasters teased by Maxis include earthquakes, tornadoes, and UFOs.
Maxis promises to show off a new disaster trailer next Friday, but will "unlock" it early with fan participation on Facebook. If you can't wait, you can see this off-screen footage captured by a fan:
