Like previous entries, the upcoming SimCity will feature disasters to unleash upon your virtual town. For example, this Meteor Strike (pictured) will cause quite an explosive mess when it hits. Other disasters teased by Maxis include earthquakes, tornadoes, and UFOs.

Maxis promises to show off a new disaster trailer next Friday, but will "unlock" it early with fan participation on Facebook. If you can't wait, you can see this off-screen footage captured by a fan:

Surprised they aren't doing some kind of zombie outbreak disaster scenario. That would be fun to try to quarantine zombies by building or destroying parts of your city.

That could be a whole game in itself.

You beat me to it. Either civil riots (with tool use, so firebombs and whatnot are part of the mix) or actual zombies would be amazing.

If that's not in the game, it should be it's first mod.

We already knew Simcity 5 had disasters. It requires Origin.

Why are you using that camcorder footage? The Maxis live chat took place for the whole Internet so I would think EA could supply it to you if it's still not up (I see it on other websites but no longer on the EA page I viewed it on). They also showed off the ability to mod buildings and discussed multiplayer and the ability to play all of the region's cities yourself as a single-player game. The video itself is over a hour but the beginning of it is for The Sims 3: Seasons and then they announced the new Stuff pack at the end of the video. They also stuck the other recent SimCity video in there so if you just want the new parts jump to the 46 minute mark.
