WoW: Mists of Pandaria opens first raid

Now that you've had a few weeks to prance gaily around the definitely-not-Asian land of Pandaria, it's time to put on your raiding trousers and get down to serious business. Blizzard yesterday opened up the Mogu'shan Vaults, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria's first raid for you to throw your corpses at in the hope of striking shiny loot.

The Mogu'shan Vaults is a raid for 10 or 25 people in Kun-Lai Summit, with six bosses for you to crack open like loot pinatas. It's not on the Raid Finder just yet, though. For that, you need to consult upcoming raid schedule Blizzard also detailed:
  • Tuesday, Oct 9 - Heroic Mogu'shan Vaults and first half of Mogu'shan Vaults on Raid Finder
  • Tuesday Oct. 16 - Second half of Mogu'shan Vaults on Raid Finder
  • Tuesday, Oct. 30 - Normal Heart of Fear and Normal Terrace of Endless Spring (Must clear Heart of Fear first) with Heroic and Raid finder versions unlocking one week later
Fear not, once you're happily farming the Vaults, Blizzard will be bringing you more.

Say, what are all these lion statues doing in the Vault?

Clearing through the content so quickly is not in the least bit surprising when people have had months to practice in Beta.

Exactly, and easily time to get the best gear from Heroics. I mean, if you're a hardcore guild that is. It's not the same contest anymore really. We're not talking AQ40 here.

Well AQ 40 was legit broken for Q'thun. No one could beat with the best gear available. No one could even get close. It was either poorly tuned or was not intended to be beaten for until they decided to patch it.

Yep. My guild helped beta test it with death n taxes back pre release. And the developers didnt change the encounter at all. It was just a hard gear check. That they didnt listen to any of our feedback. Between that and the 15 to 20 min bugwalk between encounters caused me to quit wow. I didnt want to spend my evenings slamming my head on a wall to see how much poison damage i could take in his third phase or whatever.

As someone who had zero interest in pandas, I made one to check out their starter area and it is easily my favorite starter area of any race.

I initially had 0 interest in panda's, but the animations are pretty solid and now I am considering race changing my rogue to Panda.

I have a Pavlovian response to undead rogues from my years playing alliance, seems 90% of the time I was ganked it was an undead rogue. I just can't play as one.

Is there some reason that they decided to go this route that doesn't boil down to "they went to go see Kung Fu Panda and thought that would be cool in their game"?

As in, other than pandas and kung fu being native to China, is there some common connection that both the movie and this expansion pack drew inspiration from? Like is there some ancient folk art of some sort of kung fu pandas?

I just don't understand (admittedly as someone who has never played WoW) how this seemed like a good idea, and how this couldn't have been pulled off with something not inspired by a kids movie.

In a game full of anthropomorphic animals, why does THIS particular animal-man make you so incredulous?

Because he hasn't played the game and decided to get on the irrational hate train.

MoP launched on Sept 25th - 8 days ago. How does that translate to "a few weeks to prance" when a few weeks is 21 days? Pretty idiotic mistake if you ask me.

Beta is beta. Not everyone was in it. The timing of this article and the topic at hand clearly is not referring to Beta. If it is then it's a little late and who cares about Beta when the game is live.
