Crystal Dynamics hints at Tomb Raider sequel
by Steve Watts, Jun 27, 2012 4:30pm PDTTomb Raider is a full-on franchise reboot, so it's not surprising that Crystal Dynamics is considering sequels. It is slightly surprising, however, that it seems like a sequel is already in the planning stages, if comments from global brand director Karl Stewart are any indication.
"You have to look at the future, you have to know where... it's not just one game," Stewart told Videogamer. "At the end of this game we want her to be that strong female character that is willing to go and seek out mysteries and seek out tombs. She's going to be going to plenty of tombs in this game, but we're going to have somebody who wants to go on that adventure, who wants to be the person that she now is. That's the goal."
And if that weren't enough, even his refusal to share more details dropped some info. "I don't want to say anymore on it because I'll have the game director of the next game going, 'what the fuck are you saying!?'"
Crystal Dynamics also recently announced that Camilla Luddington (Californication, True Blood) will fill the role of Lara in this game. She'll be appearing on a Tomb Raider panel at the San Diego Comic-Con to discuss her role.
