Spelunky hitting Xbox 360 on July 4
by Steve Watts, Jun 26, 2012 11:00am PDTThe long-awaited indie game Spelunky finally has an official release date and price on the Xbox 360. The game is launching on July 4 for $15 (1200 MSP), because nothing says "American independence" like digging for treasure. It won the Excellence in Design prize at the IGF 2012 awards, and was a runner-up for Technical Excellence as well.
The price and date were revealed on the Major Nelson blog with a handful of other upcoming discounts and XBLA releases. The full game has been available as freeware on PC since 2009, but the Xbox 360 version adds local multiplayer with co-op and deathmatch modes for up to four players.
