Though EA confirmed the game last week, the company showed off Need for Speed Most Wanted at its E3 press briefing today. More significantly, the game was given a firm release date: October 30.

The game is coming from Criterion, and carrying that open-world appeal of Burnout Paradise. In a short gameplay demonstration, we saw the open world in action. EA announced in a press release that it will also ship a "limited edition" pack featuring double speed points, custom liveries, pre-customized rollouts, a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale and Porsche 911 Carrera S.

It's headed to PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Vita, iOS and Android.

Haven't we already played Need for Speed: Most Wanted? A near-launch title for 360?

Yup; released holiday 2005, developed by EA Canada. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_Most_Wanted

There's also this gem of naming conventions:

Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit (1998, EA Canada)
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (2002, EA Black Blox)
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010, Criterion)

I'm pretty much never going to buy any future EA titles due to Origin, but it feels like Need For Speed is so far off the rails, between Shift, the Criterion-developed Burnout clones, and the really off-the-rails spinoffs like Nitro and World. I'd rather just stick with GT5, or check out Project CARS.

          Weird.

Maybe they're capitalising on the fact that NFS:MW was one of the last actually good NFS games.

I just can't help feeling they're going to fuck it up and we're just going to reinstall Most Wanted 1 instead. :(

Actually, I just played Most Wanted 1 because I want that game in 1080p with higher resolution textures and that's all it needs to be successful.

I saw another video from E3 about this game and, as i see it, its going to be really annoying to play this game.

Every time you or a police car or a rival car crashes with anything, the camera changes to that car and goes into slow motion, then, the camera returns to you but most of the times, when it does, you have to re gain speed, and totally ruins the sense of speed.
Its like everybody just stops their cars to take photos and have a cup of tea while they watch the other car crashing and suddenly they say, oh! yea we were racing (or in a police chase), and start running again.

Its like in the first most wanted when you crashed with a blockade of cars and took a really big slow down, but in this one is nearly all the time, taking a big slow down for nearly everything and the slow mo animation lasting longer.

And i have to mention too that in the video is shown the car that the player is controling, slightly touching a car from the back (at similar speeds) and suddenly the car on the front flips magically and starts rolling O_o.
