Shadow of the Colossus movie gets Chronicle director
by Andrew Yoon, May 23, 2012 8:45pm PDTIt's been a long time since we've heard from Sony about their plans to adapt Shadow of the Colossus into a film. However, the project is apparently still alive. According to a new report, Josh Trank, director of the recent Chronicle has been signed to lead the project.
According to Deadline (via Joystiq), Trank has been a fan of the classic PS2 game and "sought out the job." The studio is currently interviewing writers for the treatment, suggesting the movie's original script by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) is no longer in consideration.
The long-stalled project may not make it into theaters any time soon, however. In addition this film, Trank is apparently also attached to three other movies: Fantastic Four, Venom, and Red Star. Of course, Team Ico fans are no strangers to waiting--so it's unlikely they'll mind.

You know like, 'hey, those adverts really don't do justice to this film, you know how the teasers aren't always representative of a film, how marketing can go overboard or fail to do their job right'. Maybe even just a passionate statement about why someone liked it. Or a reasonable one detailing it's many merits and it's flaws. instead there's 'hey it did better than expected' and 'it doesn't mean it was bad' neither of which puts into question my assessment of the film based upon how it's marketed and described as a retail.
of course such arguments require that the film actually be something which isn't what I've concluded it to be. So, it's rather interesting, to see these words. Nothing to go on.
Good films don't have comments like this defending them. Good films have white knights listing why the films worth watching, worth buying. Films that people assume are terrible due to lame marketing having never heard of them do have comments like those found here. This really is rather amusing, quite amusing.
