Steam account bans now more lenient

It's since come to light that Valve has made a similar change on Steam--over two months ago, in fact. Hurrahs all round!
Steam accounts are now locked, rather than outright disabled, Steam forum volunteer moderator 'heffebaycay' pointed out. Locked accounts can still play their games, but are not able purchase any more, activate games from keys, gift games, or use Steam's trading features.
Being banned and losing every game you've bought on an account is a common anxiety still surrounding digital distribution, so these moves from Steam and Origin are certainly welcome.
