Tribes: Ascend beta starts November 4
by Steve Watts, Oct 10, 2011 8:30am PDTThe beta test for Tribes: Ascend will come on Friday, November 4 according to Hi-Rez Studios head Todd Harris. The team had been aiming for September, but Harris says the beta was pushed back due to alpha feedback and the addition of a character progression feature.
The beta is set to include four multiplayer maps, two game modes, three vehicles, and 12 playable classes. Once the full game launches, it will be free-to-play and supported by microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
The news was revealed in a Cyberlink interview (via Eurogamer). Harris lists disc jump strength and chasing flat-cappers, along with overall game speed, as points of alpha feedback that needed tweaking. He also reveals that they're still choosing beta testers, so don't worry if you haven't received a key yet.
