Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL coming to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii this holiday
by Andrew Yoon, Oct 06, 2011 11:15pm PDT"There aren't enough Smash Bros. clones," a Cartoon Network executive probably thought before he greenlit the upcoming Punch Time Explosion XL. And it's true--other than Dissidia, there haven't been many attempts at casual, family-friendly, cross-franchise fighting games outside of Nintendo's revered series.
Punch Time Explosion XL expands upon the concept of the original 3DS game, and includes characters from Ben 10, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, The Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Laboratory.
New for the console versions are eight new characters, boosting the roster up to 26 playable characters. The "XL" version will also add a new four player co-op mode. Unlockables include new characters, arenas, costumes, and "memorable cartoon clips."
Crave Games is aiming for a holiday release on the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. The game will be aiming for the "budget" crowd, with the game available for $40 on the HD consoles, and $30 on Wii.
