The Baconing XBLA, PC, and Mac bound Aug. 31

We already know that the third game in the DeathSpank series is headed to PlayStation 3 as part of its first-annual PLAY promotion, but a date for the game's other releases was still unknown.

Today, Hothead revealed that The Baconing is launching on the XBLA and on Steam (with SteamPlay) on August 31.

Pre-ordering The Baconing on Steam will net players a 20% discount on the game's final purchase price. The Baconing launches across all three platforms for $15.

The Baconing is one of a handful of titles launching on the PlayStation 3 during its first end of summer PLAY promotion. Somewhat similar to Microsoft's Summer of Arcade, PLAY will heavily promote a number of new downloadable games that will be available. However, unlike Microsoft, Sony allows gamers to pre-order the entire promo bundle. PlayStation Plus subscribers interested in the promotion's titles are also offered a healthy 20% off bonus at checkout.
