At today's EA Gamescom press conference, BioWare's Ray Muzyka took the stage to talk about his division's plans, and announced a new Warhammer game in the process: Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes. The game focuses on three-team PVP combat, with 6 players each. The game is part of EA's Play4Free (free-to-play) push, and is coming this fall. You can sign up for the beta today at the game's official site.

Check out screens and the first video of the game in action below.

Couldn't really tell from the video, but it seemed like the visual quality of the game wasn't all that great. I'm definitely not a graphics whore, but when it looked like they took the Warhammer MMO and made it into a fast-paced arena game.

I can't get over how awful the effects look. Like they have a bad photoshop filter running on top of them

Got really excited reading then, then made the mistake of watching the trailer. It looks horrible.

Wow.. horrible - and I love the Warhammer franchise but I don't want to see it get perverted into this style of gameplay. Plus the graphics look horrid and I think I'd rather just boot up Tribes (now that its back *finally* thank god for all the new servers that are up)

Not only does the video look bad, but the screenshots look terrible as well. What is with the horrendous texture quality? It looks like they were going for a Borderlands-esque graphical approach, but failed miserably.

So we are recycling WAR Age of Reckoning PvP and releasing it as a seperate game?

Soon? It's already garbage. The old Bioware is dead and buried.

So Mythic took the PvP of Warhammer Online, added another team and make it look worse. Well done.

EA's play4free brand has become pay4win. While I enjoyed PvP in WAR, that this title will be released under play4free has me completely disinterested.
