Twisted Metal delayed to 2012
by Xav de Matos, Aug 05, 2011 10:00am PDTThe return of Calypso’s demented contest is going to be late. Today, Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe has revealed that Twisted Metal for the PlayStation 3 will not make its October 4 ship date.
"A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time," Jaffe wrote, quoting the legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. The "good news," however, is the game will be playable at both Gamescom 2011 and PAX Prime 2011, for those in attendance.
Twisted Metal is now slated to arrive in "early 133609," according to Jaffe, who broke the news in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
"Now, if we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow--going off the response from folks who have played it--I assure you, it would never be a bad game," Jaffe wrote, promising that the team is aiming for "A heck of a lot more than that."
"With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multiplayer classic."
Eat Sleep Play recently announced it was "retooling" the game, when the ESRB gave the game a Mature rating for graphic live-action video. Rather than cut the content, Jaffe's team decided to embrace the rating.
At E3 2011, Shacknews East Coast Editor Andrew Yoon previewed Twisted Metal and said it felt like a "fun, but not particularly impressive, HD version of a PS2 game," saying the game needed extra polish to live up to fan expectation.
