Vessel sloshing out this holiday season
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 04, 2011 8:45am PDTIndie dev Strange Loop Games is inviting players to play god, or mad scientist at the very least, and turn simple liquids into living machines with Vessel. Publisher indiePub announced today that the physics-based puzzle-platformer will dribble onto PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this holiday season.
Vessel casts players as inventor Arkwright, whose living liquid creatures 'Fluros' have gone a bit Skynet, and threaten the world and all that jazz. To defeat them, you'll need to solve puzzles by creating more Fluros from fluids including water, lava, glowing goo, and chemicals, each with different properties.
From here, it gets complicated, so I'll let indiePub explain:
Using the unique technology of the Vessel engine, these liquid creatures are like no other character in video games; each possesses a body composed entirely of physically simulated fluid that allows them unique abilities that include melting, reforming, mixing with other types of fluid, and re-growing lost limbs. Combining the properties of each fluid type with the behaviors of the liquid creatures that it comprises, players will be able solve puzzles and progress in this fantastic mechanical world.
Vessel will cost $14.99 (1,200 Microsoft Points). It'll make its official debut at the PAX Prime convention later this month, if you're in the neighborhood and fancy a look.
