Sonic 4 episodes still on-track for release
by Steve Watts, Jun 09, 2011 12:00pm PDTSonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was meant to be a retro-hip refresher for the series, but it wasn't without its problems. When Sega introduced Sonic Generations, which is also a retro-hip series reboot, we had to wonder if plans for more Sonic 4 episodes were being quietly scuttled.
Apparently not so, according to Sega of America and Europe president Mike Hayes. In an interview with Giant Bomb, Hayes said more Sonic 4 is on the way. "I know there were some quality issues that we had there that we've taken on board and there will be further episodes following up on that," he said. "I think the next one's excellent. I think that's going to overcome some of the issues we had on the first one."
The first game was a "hugely successful" according to Hayes, so it makes sense for the company to make more. It's just hard to tell if Episode 1 and Generations will whet appetites enough, leading to less interest in Episode 2.
