Call of Duty 'Elite' perks detailed

Activision released a more detailed list of features in the Call of Duty Elite service Friday, offering a better look at what we can expect when it comes out with Modern Warfare 3 this fall.

Though Activision has repeatedly stated that it won't be charging for multiplayer with its new Call of Duty Elite service, the company hasn't really shared many details on what will be included. With some users still expressing confusion over the service's features, it was an apt time to update the FAQ with a more specific run-down.

Teasing that "even haters can play for free," Activision's list of Elite services is a hefty one. Check out the list below, and expect it to be a strong push during the company's press conference later today. The service is set to launch this fall with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Is this iteration going to have the undocumented "skill balancing", time shifting, good player hobbling, bad player boosting code that modern warfare 2 uses to artificially induce tension, drama and perception of being balanced despite the lack of dedicated servers?

Or will we see a return to Q3 style code where what you see is what you get, no hidden balancing code to make the game less punishing on newbies?

I don't know what you are talking about. I know cod4 would try to spawn you in the vicinity of a player that was killing you repeatedly so it would be easier for you to get a revenge kill but that wasn't guaranteed. You re full of $&*^ if you think the game messes with your timings once your kdr reaches a certain point.

I play on the PC and dont have the means to record myself play. Fraps lags, wegame lags, I'm not sure what other options for recording smooth gmaeplay without lag are available. He records himself on console.

I would love to hear from the game devs if any are still around, that I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that that will never happen.

Those are exactly the same bullshit excuses that bad players give when they lose - the other team is 'cheating' and 'it's not fair'.

They aren't going far enough with this extra paid stuff. When you buy the game, they need to just give the player a knife. And he has to spend real money per new weapon to acquire. Cut-scenes definitely need to be DLC, as it takes time and effort to script all that amazing acting. Checkpoints? Yeah that is a great time to introduce a pay-to-continue mechanism, the player will be captivated by the riveting action and hooked by the oscar-like cut scenes. Next year, after the Elite service has taken over the web, they can just charge per multiplayer game you play in. That is a sure way to both generate revenue and show your appreciation to the fans.

On the PC side, they can charge a little extra to run the game at ultra high resolutions because if the player can afford a 2560x1600 monitor or surround monitor setup, they can afford to pay an extra few bucks to unlock the resolution in-game to run it like that.
