RuneScape devs making Transformers MMO
by Steve Watts, Mar 14, 2011 3:30pm PDTA new massively multiplayer game from the developers of RuneScape is in the works, and this one stars a few familiar faces. Hasbro and developer Jagex Games Studio today announced a Transformers MMO to launch in North America, Latin America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia in 2012. Jagex has experience with more than 40 online games, including RuneScape.
"Transformers is one of the most iconic brands in the world and we are delighted to team up with Hasbro in order to bring our shared vision to reality," said Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard in the announcement. "There is a huge appetite for an online Transformers game and we will utilize every bit of our development and publishing expertise to deliver a dynamic and action-packed game that Transformers fans will find irresistible."
By "irresistible," we can only hope he means "based on G1 Transformers" and "you get to smash things as Grimlock." Come on, Gerhard, don't let us down.

I'm all for more transformers video games, but here's hoping it's decent. We finally got a Transformers game that was worth a damn in War for Cybertron, I'd hate to see the franchise backslide right back into crappy games.
