Twisted Pixel Announces 'The Gunstringer' for Kinect
by Xav de Matos, Feb 01, 2011 12:00pm PSTTwisted Pixel has revealed the studio's fifth title, a Kinect-based game featuring a marionette out for revenge coming sometime in 2011. The Gunstringer takes place in a wild west setting, combining 2D and 3D elements to craft its cartoony world. The game's first trailer showcases gesture-based gameplay using Microsoft's best-selling motion peripheral.
Twisted Pixel has yet to reveal whether the game is launching on XBLA or if they have graduated to the wild world of retail releases. The indie developer behind such titles as 'Splosion Man and Comic Jumper will bring a playable version of The Gunstringer to PAX East 2011, alongside the previously announced spin-off Ms. 'Splosion Man.
The Gunstringer's official site features a blog post from lead designer Dan Teasdale noting, "As you may have already gathered, The Gunstringer is unlike any Kinect game you may have played previously. There are no minigames, forced gestures, or end of level photos of you in your underwear here."
The former Harmonix lead designer added, "You can play it sitting down, which is great if you just want to play and relax rather than burn crazy calories. Most importantly, you can aim and move with precision not seen in any of the Kinect launch titles, and with a speed and feel that's just not possible with a traditional controller."
