Nintendo 3DS Invades Europe on March 25 [Update]

Earlier today, North American gamers learned the Nintendo 3DS would arrive in its region on March 27 for $249.99. Moments ago at a press event in Amsterdam, Nintendo of Europe announced release plans across the pond.

Nintendo 3DS will arrive in PAL territories on March 25. Pricing will be based on retail partners throughout Europe. Retailers have yet to reveal prices. It appears that the Nintendo 3DS will also ship in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black in Europe, much like North America.

Update: HMV UK has added a listing for the Nintendo 3DS on its site, pricing the unit at £229.99. The system is available in either blue or black.

Sounds expensive for a handheld. However, I have never bought one before and don't know a lot about them, so maybe I am wrong.

  I don't know... for a brand new high-end handheld... it seems just about right. The PSP was WAY more than that when it first game out. But then again.. I think the DS was around $150 when it first came out.. wasn't it? I'm not sure how much that adjusts with inflation. I guess it is a bit high but it seems like a higher end device even considering the advancement since the DS came out. When the DS first came out it didn't feel like an incredibly powerful system. It focused on 2d and the touchscreen was innovative at the time and the dual screens also. But I do remember being a little bit disappointed with the power of the system when it came out (as opposed to the PSP which kind of blew me away). This is a much more powerful device and it does 3d without glasses which is a pretty high-end feature.
  
  I think $250 is a decent price point.. any higher than that would be too much. I'm buying one.. I know that for sure. I'll put my pre-order in as soon as possible. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing.
