Blizzard Exploring 'Diablo-Related Project' on Consoles
by Alice O'Connor, Nov 16, 2010 5:40am PSTBlizzard has announced that it's hiring staff to explore what is described as a "Diablo-related project for consoles," after rumours were sparked by three job listings yesterday that the developer was creating a console port of Diablo 3.
"As we've said in the past," Blizzard explains on the Diablo 3 community site, "with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we're interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project."
"Please note that this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don't intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game."
While BlizzCon 2010 saw the revelation of Diablo 3's fifth and final class, the Demon Hunter, it didn't bring word on when the action RPG might finally be released. Rats.

Hopefully they get some kind of competition, but I do believe that companies are starting to back off whenever Blizz makes a move for any particular seat at the table. An indeterminate date makes it even harder for competitors to avoid scheduling something that might accidentally launch within 6 months of a Diablo for consoles.
