Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon Announced
by Brian Leahy, Sep 17, 2010 12:00pm PDTD3Publisher has announced Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for release in Spring 2011.
"Players take on the role of the world's elite soldiers, who will engage in nonstop bug filled arcade action with over 150 weapons and four upgradeable armor sets."
This new title will be developed by Vicious Cycle Software (Matt Hazard series), which is wholly owned by D3Publisher. The original Earth Defense Force 2017 was released in the US in March 2007 for the Xbox 360 and was developed by the Japanese company SANDLOT.
Insect Armageddon will also include a "six-player Survival mode that pits a human squad against a nonstop onslaught of the largest enemies" as well as three-player online co-op for the game's campaign.
A teaser trailer has been released, showing off some of the insects coming to cause said Armageddon.
