Morning Discussion

By Alice O'Connor, Aug 09, 2010 5:00am PDT Those Xbox 360 machines are alright, yeah? Shiny and everything. Mine finally arrived over the weekend so I jabbed my thumb into video games pies hoping to pull out as many delicious plums as possible before Monday started and it was back to business as usual. Some proved to be meat pies while others were more enjoyable because of their crust but all had respectable qualities and were delicious in their own way.

Rather than repeat some basic sentiments you've no doubt already heard elsewhere about Alan Wake, Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 and Limbo, I'll say that if you haven't tried Chime yet you should download the demo. It's quite delightful and a portion of the profits go to charridy. I still have many pies to sample.

Finally got my upgrade, but having some trouble finding any documentation around my particular dilemma and was curious if anyone else has done this, and what you did to resolve it.

I've had my 3G for 2 years now and I used to sync it with my old work machine, which I no longer have access to. The machine was unauthorized, but I had yet to create a new partnership with a new machine.

Today my iPhone 4 was delivered. I would like to transfer all the content (music, photos, contacts, etc) to my iPhone 4, but the dilemma here is that I haven't done a sync with a new machine yet.

The wife however just bought a new 27inch iMac, and shes sort of in the same boat as she has to partner her 3Gs with the new mac.

So my question is, can I do a backup of my 3G on the new authorized iMac, then connect my iPhone 4 and restore from that 3G backup and copy all that content.

I know that aside from iTunes music purchases I will need to manually copy that over, but would this work?
