E3 2010 Game Critics Awards Announced

The winners of the Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2010 have been announced with the Nintendo 3DS taking the coveted "Best of Show" award. On the software side, id's Rage took home the most awards with three. Valve's Portal 2 and Harmonix's Dance Central each took home two awards. The full list of nominees can be found here.

I'm more curious as to the reason behind the Portal 2 over-coverage. Shack went nuts over it for a couple days after the show, and was Portal 2 really the only decent non-Rage game that was worthy of THIS much attention? Have pockets been lined w/Valve Bucks? Or are people actually that enamored by a 1st-person puzzle game in 2010??
