Weekend Discussion: Until We Meet Again
by Chris Faylor, Jun 26, 2010 5:00am PDTFriends and Colleagues,
As you may know, I'm stepping away from the day-to-day affairs of Shacknews to pursue other opportunities--specifically, what I hope will lead to a career in teaching.
The good news, though, is I'm not going away entirely. After three and a half years or so, I just couldn't just abandon you folks, so I'll still be around to contribute news, previews, and reviews on occasion, not to mention lurking about in Latest Chatty.
Come Monday, you'll meet our newest full-time staffer, whom I hope you'll be nice to.
So until we meet again, take care, and don't forget to hack the planet, okay?
Kinect for Xbox One coming to PC
Xbox One does not provide any built-in DVR capabilities
Xbox One increases friends lists to 1,000
Xbox One achievements dynamic, not limited to single games

Someone is asking me for advice about buying a decent desktop vomiter. Main purpose is the basics (I.e. internet, mail, word processing, file storage, etc.).
I'm looking at prebuilt computers from local stores priced in the $600-$700 range and all have integrated graphics (although I did come across one with a geforce 9500). While gaming isn't that important, it would be nice to play some games such as The Sims 3 or Civ4.
I guess it depends on the chipset but the CPU would most likely be i5 or lower.
