Morning Discussion

By Alice O'Connor, Jun 10, 2010 5:00am PDT As the weekend slowly approaches, prepare yourself for adventure with the brilliant music video for Losers - "Flush". Victorian stylings, cephalopods and monarchs as colossal bio-mechanical tanks. Truly the best of British. I'm told there's also some sort of soundtrack attached but I wouldn't know about that. Gawd save the Queen!

Personally I'm not thinking about the weekend at all, only the week of mega monster media mayhem that will follow--E3. I'll be running on USA time and no doubt barely sleeping but I'm feeling confident about it all. This should be a good E3 for Shacknews.

So, I'm still learning about this game as I go and after a few more hours with it I finally decided to check out the track creator. I didn't really buy the game for this aspect, but I figured it would increase its longevity when I was done with the standard sp challenges and such. I'm not so sure about that now.

It works well enough, but the biggest flaw with it is that you can't upload the finished ones to repository similar to something like littlebigplanet or download them like that as well. You can only send and receive tracks from friends on your list via a message. Which is kinda nuts and begs the question that if the data is small enough to fit into a PSN message, why couldn't Sony pony up a server to host them in the first place? I know the dev team is only 4 guys but to me it seems more complicated to make it all work via a message than a server you can upload and download from a list like the SSF4 replay system or whatever. As someone with 60+ friends and not a single one that I know of even owns the game, the creator is basically for my own amusement. Which I'm fine with, really, except it only has a fraction of the props and pieces that the regular game has. Kind of a bummer, but if you can get creative with it you'll still be able to make some entertaining stuff. One of the devs mentioned they have some updates coming with new features but aren't talking about what that may be. I hope it makes sharing and creating better better but it could easily be something entirely different.

This is not an anti Joe Danger post, the game itself is still fun as hell and something I think everyone should play, especially those who loved excitebike back in the day. But since information on some of the aspects seems lacking and I'm one of the few people who post here that have this game I felt I should pass this along to anyone else who may be interested.
