by Alice O'Connor, May 31, 2010 5:00am PDTToday is a holiday in both the USA and the UK--Spring Bank Holiday in the UK and Memorial Day in the USA--so we'll be running a little light on coverage but rest assured, we will have a few things to help you avoid working. Everywhere else, we apologise.

I’m looking into moving to your awesome country and looking for some info. Can anyone help me via SM or e-mail? I would appreciate it very much.
Basically, I’m looking for some information about three big areas: Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa. I already have read a good bunch of information about these three cities, but I could use some info about neighborhoods, general cost of living, good places to live and day-to-day stuff, like health care, traffic, transportation network, etc. For reference, I do web development and content management of medium-sized websites, but my main fields of work are actionscript 3 programming, design, information architecture, html/js programming and some RIA development; my wife is a physiotherapist and she would be going with me at the same time. I’m open to suggestions about other good cities and places to live.
Anyway, if anyone could give me some information and recommendations about the places I’ve mentioned, I would greatly appreciate it. Leave a reply here if I can SM you some questions - I promise to not take much of your time :)
TIA!

The weather is fairly mild compared to the rest of Canada. A lot of young people downtown, then the population gets older and more backwards as you move out. Cost of living is dirt cheap. Public transport is pretty lame, I'd definitely advise a vehicle (with a GPS if you're new to town). There are beaches you can swim at, lots of lakes and cottages, hiking opportunites. Parks and greenery is never too far away. The restaurant scene has improved a lot dince I've been here, but us obviously limited compared to bigger places.
If you like big cities, stay the fuck out or you'll die slowly inside!
