Thanks, K0LM
Also, tomorrow night around 8pm EST Wadmaasi will be destroyed in a 750-point game vs. me broadcast live on justin.tv. I'll post the link in the current chatty at the time or let me know if you'd like the link SM'd to you or something.-

Haha, I was referencing what Klebold had posted in ER, he wanted to make the Warhammer super thread today. :-)
Good to hear that you got addicted! I really need to get a game happening (I haven't played in years). I just like building modles (and buying them, lots of buying takes place, not much building). -

Right now I don't like that it doesn't work. I'm one of the poor sods suffering this:

No idea. So far all they're saying is, "Verify cache, verify cache, verify cache." Well, I've verified the cache. I've deleted it and had Steam redownload it. I've uninstalled it, scrubbed the registry, and reinstalled it. It doesn't fucking work. And I never got a registration confirmation from the forums so I can't even make a, "Me too!" post.

The MP is too RTS for my taste. I prefer focusing on a small group of squads and using them in different tactics. I like some RTS's but I have trouble micro managing my squads and keeping my production going at the same time.
A lot of the same reason I didn't like Sins of a Solar Empire. It wasn't a bad game, it was just everything about RTSs that I hate.

nephilem sent me this link, I've been meaning to try it out on my Space Marine Scouts (I hate painting faces). http://masterdarksol.blogspot.com/2010/04/step-by-step-space-wolves.html

That looks really annoying to do. I'm like you, I'm not very skilled with painting and I prefer to just put a couple of layers on, some highlighting and be done. That's why I play Raven Guard, we have all black armour! It's also why I like having helmets on all my troops. :-) I still haven't decided on how to paint my Tau, I'm thinking urban camo. And there's only one way to paint Grey Knights which I will attempt once I become awesome at painting!

Macross, god damn it. It looks like Macross.
Also: fuck yeah. Macross-y is the scheme I'm planning on. (I keep posting these every other day, it seems.)

I don't mind these paint styles but here are ones I was thinking of doing:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/34826-.html is the kind of camouflage that I was thinking. It'd be a lot of work but I think it'd be worth it in the end.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/65254-.html is another style which I really like apart from the blue sections. Plasma is purple as far as I'm concerned. :-( I also don't like the painting on the chest piece but that's a very minor criticism.
And for the hell of it - http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/43180-.html

SUPER PAINTING TIP
If you mess up and or not happy with your models you can always strip them and start fresh. All you need is a toothbrush and Simple Green. Soak the models in Simple Green for a couple hours or over night then take the brush to them. From my experience the newer the paint the easier. Also depending in the primer used it might come off GW primer does come off.

What, Calvin's dinosaur trees and volcanoes aren't "real terrain features?" Hmm...I wonder if I can use his T-Rex as a Greater Knarloc (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/KROOT-GREAT-KNARLOC-WITH-BOLT-THROWER.html).

Started unpacking shit - snapped off some random shots of my nids / IG.-

I have well over 1500 points of shit for each army. Probably could get close to 2000 points per army.
The worst though is my IG. I've got at least (3) Infantry Platoons, (3) Leman Russ, (1) Leman Demolisher, (3) Basilisks, (5) Sentinels, (2) Squads of storm troopers --- 1 of the old set, and 1 of the newer set.-

I've actually got at least half of them started in this manner - just a matter of going through and finishing up the highlights, weapons, bases, etc.
http://www.hyperstealth.com/ka2/cd/6859I.jpg - would be an example of what I'm looking to do with the Armor - but with a much lower level of detail - just black and greys.

Tau Smart Missile System
Stop the presses. By the 5e rules, this is a defensive weapon when mounted on a vehicle since it's STR5, right? And an SMS counts both launchers as a single weapon, so it's not twin-linked and only gets 4 shots per system, not 4 shots per launcher, right? Oh man, things just got more fun for me.-
-
I guess you've already figured this out but since SMS and burst cannons are STR5, they don't count as defensive weapons. You are correct that the SMS fires as a single weapon (even though it looks like two) and isn't twin-linked.
You've probably done this but I'd figure I'd throw my 5 cents in. :-) With your Hammerhead, do you have a target lock and multitracker attached? Target lock allows each weapon system to be fired at a separate target (which is great for burst cannons since they aren't twin-linked) and multitracker allows the Hammerhead to fire as if it were a fast vehicle. Two other pieces of wargear that I like are flechette dischargers in case of someone charging you and disruption pods to help it live a bit longer.
My problem with Tau is that they have so much wargear that it is very tempting to make each unit as powerful as possible. :-(
