Shack PSA: Tex Murphy 1 & 2 Free at GOG

This winter gift-giving festivity season, virtual vintage video game vendor Good Old Games is spreading cheer with the first two Tex Murphy adventure games completely free.

The dystopian gumshoe's cases Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum can be added permanently to a free GOG account for absolutely "zip, zero, zilch, nada" until December 24. Those who already own the pair can register for "an alternative gift."

The other games in Access Software's adventure series--Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive and Tex Murphy: Overseer--are on sale at GOG for $9.99 each.

The gift is apparently only the first holiday surprise from GOG, who tease "more exciting, jaw-dropping news!" will come in the next few days. Thanks to Taczbr for the tip.

This is a brilliant idea. I've had a GOG account for a year, but I never gotten anything off of it. Now, I've used their service; had the band-aid ripped off in an entirely painless way. Now I'll be less apprehensive of spending cash there.

I remember playing this game (Mean Streets) on an IBM/PC xt with 4 color CGA card and its beeps and boops of 'real sound' on an internal PC speaker.
