PlayStation 3 'It Only Does Everything' Ads Debut

25
With the PlayStation 3 price drop and slimmer model now official, Sony has kicked off a new marketing campaign that carries the tagline of "It Only Does Everything."

The campaign will see Sony "have direct conversations with consumers about everything the PS3 can do," SCEA VP Peter Dille explained on the PlayStation.Blog before premiering the first commercial (below), which pokes fun at the months of rumors and leaks that prefaced the official announcment of the price drop and new model.

The second video, meanwhile, centers around candles and online functionality:

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

What crap adverts. I mean, I agree the PS3 is now fairly priced for what it does, but those adverts are terrible. I've never seen such a bad attempt at a Nathan Fillion impression-

what? Nathan Fillion? What are you talking about? Honestly this is probably one of their better campaigns since the PS3 was launched and Im biased considering where I work.

Considering some of Sony's earlier ads, these are better than decent. They also quickly get to the point of the PS3 now retailing for $299.

id say it reminds me more of a Jonah Hill and Bill Kurtis impression.

If you have to google Nathan Fillion, you are a terrible human being.

I kinda hear the Nathan Fillion he's talking about (in the second one), but I REALLY don't think it's intentional.

thought they were fun commercials. really quite harmless.
