To celebrate the arrival of the anticipated Dawn of War 2 "There Is Only War" update, Steam has launched a 50% off sale on Relic titles.

All Dawn of War games will be 50% off on Steam this weekend, including Dawn of War 2, which knocks the great RTS title down to $25.

Company of Heroes games are also benefiting from the sale, with Company of Heroes Gold and the recent Tales of Valor expansion both set to $15.

I'm curious, I've never really played with STEAM yet, but are all your purchases of games good for as long as Steam is around? For instance say 4 years down the road you decide to load your STEAM account on a new computer. Are you able to redownload the games you bought 4 years ago?

The reason I ask is what happends if STEAM removes the games from their library? Could that eventually happened? One of the worries I have with digital distribution is the longevity of the service and the ability to lose a game via them not having it on their systems anymore...

I used to eat these sales up, but no more Steam purchases for me... Had my account hijacked (no, i didn't fall for a phishing scam) and I realized how crappy it was not to be able to play my games until their horrible support finally gave me my account back.

Last week, I was lamenting the fact that Direct2Drive had DoW2 for $25 and not Steam since I like having my digital games all in one convenient place. I lamented so hard, I broke their shopping cart system and couldn't purchase it from them! After a few tries, I gave up and said "oh well, maybe it'll be on Steam some day".

Thanks for not wanting my money, D2D!

Interesting. On the Dawn of War 2 Steam page down the bottom there is a link to the full soundtrack (no cost, regardless whether you own the game or not).

I would have thought they would publicise this more, I'm sure there would be some cool tunes in there.
