                Same here. I much prefer getting the codecs to work since that means video works in everything, but I have GOM and VLC installed for the odd thing that I don't have a working codec for (where it isn't worth the hassle finding/updating one and risking it fucking up everything else, heh).
                
                We noticed the other day that GOM cannot seek in AVI files past the 4gig point (works fine in MKV files so must be a problem only in its AVI demuxer). It's frustrating how there isn't one app that will play all videos. :)
                
                Fucking video. When will it "just work"? We're still in the dark ages with that shit. I always bitch about what a minefield of shit video encoding is but I guess when we still can't even PLAY video reliably it'd be a lot to expect encoding to work flawlessly. heh. Sigh.
