Morning Squidussion

Squid and octopodes are of course the stars of the class, and even cuttlefish get a little screen time, but the poor nautilus is all too often forgotten. Few believe she was in that graduating class all those millions of years ago as her classmates have changed so much since then, but she was there alright. Secured tight inside a beautiful shell, with cold uncaring eyes and dozens of tentacles, she's my kind of cephalopod.

Is there really any need for flash when we can start doing this kind of stuff without it? Ok I'm sure this can't do everything flash does, but still...

Soon we'll have video/audio HTML embedding standards, which all the major browsers have already begun working towards supporting. The codec battle might ruffle some feathers, but chances are they'll all cave and ship with decoding support for h.264 and theora anyways. Pretty sure that's Chrome's plan. It's hard for me to imagine the others holding out, especially if Youtube makes the transition.
And now there's talk of a decent 3D Javascript engine being developed, which appears to be gaining steam.
The future for the browser space, and what we can do through the 'net in general, is pretty damn exciting.
