iPhone 3.0 Firmware Released
by Chris Faylor, Jun 17, 2009 10:56am PDTAs promised, Apple has just unleashed the v3.0 iPhone firmware update.
The 230.1MB download, available through iTunes, is said to contain "over 100 new features," including some new game-related functionality: peer-to-peer multiplayer support and "in app" purchases of downloadable content, such as new levels.
Other additions include push notifications and the long-awaited copy and paste functionality, with several other popular requests--picture messaging, tethering--included but not yet supported by AT&T. A partial list of the multiple tweaks can be found below.

The iPhone is starting to come in to its own as a viable platform for gaming. It's no DS or PSP mind you, but it shouldn't be ignored, either.
This update allows games to take advantage of some pretty sweet features so it's just as important to have it here as any other piece of gaming related news.
The firmware update is a simple file. If you or your friend can find the file elsewhere, you just update it directly from itunes and boom your now a 3.0 user.
