Zeno Clash DLC, Demo and SDK in the Works

By Alice O'Connor, Apr 24, 2009 9:11am PDT Zeno Clash designer Andres Bordeu has told Shacknews about ACE Team's plans for the first-person puncher post-release, including an SDK and downloadable content.

"We're planning on releasing DLC and releasing a compatible SDK so users can edit levels and other assets" said Bordeu, confirming details in a foreign-language interview with LagZero. No release date is scheduled yet but "it shouldn't take us very long."

ACE Team is currently working on a Zeno Clash demo, as well as a patch due "soon" to address "some game play mechanics, other tweaks, and general bug fixing."

"We're gathering all the community feedback we're getting," said Bordeu on the post-release response to the game. "We want to listen to what the players are saying."

On the DLC front, Bordeu says new Tower challenges are "definitely something we want to do" and that any added "will be free." He teases "We are also discussing the possibilty [sic] of doing other things," but ACE is "not ready to share them yet."

  • This game is completely awesome based on what I've played of it so far, very worth it in my opinion. The controls feel great, the ability to dodge punches is done nicely, it is very fun to beat the crap out of enemies and toss them around... sprinting at them and doing flying elbow attacks into their face. It almost has the feel of classic beat'em ups, and not in a bad way.
The overall art style is refreshing and stylish, the music is great and fits the game very well. The voice acting I actually enjoy, except maybe for the Tutorial guy in the beginning since it makes my throat hurt hearing it due to how forced it is. But the enemy voices so far are fitting and make you enjoy beating them to death even more. It is awesome when they lunge at you "im gonna kill you!" and others scamper around tossing rocks waiting for their opportunity to jump in... I found myself grinning so many times playing this game.
The story is presentation weird and entertaining, I like how it is unfolding, others may not, in some way it has a Takashi Miike type of feel, it just reminds me of the grins I get from some of his films, but not in any of the disturbing offensive ways.
    Anyway.. worth the 20 bucks!
