Shack PSA: Assassin's Creed PC $10 on Steam
The promotion kicks off with a 50% discount on Ubisoft Montreal's open-world murder simulator Assassin's Creed, which brings the game's price down to $9.99. That price is only valid for today, Monday, March 23.
Other titles published by Ubisoft, but not guaranteed to be part of the sale, include Far Cry 2, Tom Clancy's HAWX, World in Conflict, Grey's Anatomy: The Video Game, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Prince of Persia, and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.

It's great for them to be doing this, but since I can buy Assassin's Creed online and have it delivered (which means I get the box, old-fashioned style!) for £8, I don't see much point in buying it through Steam. It'll be interesting to see what games come through the week.

TBH even when we could get games in USD it wasn't as cheap as it seemed. The current rate is about 1.45USD to 1GBP. Assuming you get about 1.40 from your card provider, chances are they'll whack about 2% on top plus we've always had to pay VAT (15% these days) too. Valve has been honouring EU sales taxes for a while, apparently there's a clause in one of those international trade treaties which means if a company sells stuff online and doesn't honour sales tax, the recipient country doesn't have to honour their copyright!
So not that retarded, it's certainly competitive with high street prices.
