Morning Discussion
by Chris Faylor, Mar 16, 2009 7:06am PDTMonday, already? It seems like I barely got anything accomplished this weekend.
Really, I just played an hour or two Resident Evil 5, co-created and tested a Peggle drinking game, cleaned the apartment, watched some Wire, and read a few chapters of Snow Crash. The rest of the time, I was either sleeping or doing something here.
There were also about five minutes spend on a hammock. Hammock weather, at last!
On the plus side, um, I've got another chance at the weekend here in a couple days?

Why does every sci-fi movie feel the need to turn in to a fucking cliche sci-fi horror film? You don't need a goddamn monster to have conflict! There was plenty of conflict in the crew interaction and the mechanical problems and all that. Goddamnit why did they do that. :(
Overall I give it a big thumbs up but man what a last one third.

It seems obvious that the captain for the Icarus II could have gone down the same route (and partly did go down it, when he burned to death - meeting his god) as Pinbacker, and I think that taking this 'god' aspect away from the movie would actually ruin a lot of it. That being said, I think Pinbacker could have been handled better.
