New Star Wars MMO Screenshots: It's a Trap

BioWare has issued a few new screenshots from Star Wars: The Old Republic, one of which features a Mon Calamari. You know, like Admiral Ackbar. The fishy dude that said "it's a trap" in Return of the Jedi and spawned decades worth of nerdy references.

No word yet as to when the PC MMO will hit, or how its business model will work.

SWMMO is an RPG game, which is based on ancient Republic history.
Being based on history, the, um, stages of the game, will also be based on battles which took--actually took place in the Old Republic.

I believe cartoon graphics style will give the game longevity. If you create a realistic style game it will quickly become dated due to technological improvements. (ie. Everquest 2) With this style, the game can essentially "live forever".

I look forward to this title.

This is starting to look like Bioware's only disappointing game. The artwork is awful and it tells me that the game is going to lack the depth and feeling of the original game. It just looks like a big splurge of epic giant cartoony lightsabre epic neko punchfuck.

Why couldn't they use the same art style of the original KOTOR?

They shrunk the saber handles. THANK FUCK. Looks nice now, seems they've generally tweaked things which is good. The first few shots were TOO cartoony and overstylised.

I like the art work shown here. Now if only star wars weren't the most uninspiring, played out, over commercialized setting imaginable this might be worth considering. Lucas has been dry humping star wars for decades now. It needs to die.

I am really, really liking the art direction on this project. The photo-realistic approach in Galaxies, as well as in the more recent Age of Conan, resulted in a cold, plastic, lifeless environments that contributed to my lack of interest or engagement.

Really, if I don't feel at home in the world, why would I consider paying a subscription to continue feeling that way?
